I started in a career in photography back in 1973. My first job was as an assistant photographer in central London. My job was to assists and develop the film for use in printing. I was shown how to use lighting, composition, rule of 3rds, and then moved on to colour printing. As a business we were dealing with art studios and advertising agencies. Later on I moved to Wedding photography and the occasional model shoots.
In 1980 I took a job with Nikon Cameras in SW London working along with the repair and service teams for professional photographer equipment. I can’t say how many of those guys I met and most were always in a rush, sweating and ragged, sometimes damp from standing out in the rain which is where most of the repairs originated in those days. Water.
Later on I took a job with United Biscuits producing Packaging Materials for Own label customers such as M&S. The work involved dealing with art studios, advertisers, store chains and packaging manufacturers. I even remember designing biscuit packaging for Nurdin and Peacock Milk and Plain Choc Digestives one Friday afternoon that actually went into production.
Enough about me. Now on to more important things.
