The Lesson We Lived — But Were Never Taught.

Phillip Donnelly – ‘Money Grows on Trees’ Isn’t True. A Pair of Hands Feeds Many Mouths, That’s True.

On the day that we received our first pay check something else happened.

I have news for you.

You are not prepared. Unless you did Banking and Finance at college, you have no idea as a young person, what is about to hit you. The average school leaver hasn’t any idea of the real world and your money.

The money you earn is not yours. Did your parents tell you the facts of life, not those one’s, the money facts. Well, if they didn’t you’ll learn something here.

If your career has already started, and you’re settling down to build a life and make a home. Then you need to follow me. Without the right knowledge, you could loose everything you build.

The the purpose of the system is to shape us into workers.

Non conformists have no future or ability to build wealth unless they create it.

Three choices for a future.

A qualified career, an unskilled job, or a skilled job. Everyone else. You’re on your own.

For many kids, they never learned about the threepaths to income.

As a young person you may have heard this.

At fifteen, some of us heard it shouted across the house:
“Get up and go and get a job!”

So, we did. We left school, found work, and started earning. Then, just when we thought we’d made it, another familiar phrase arrived — usually from a proud parent with a half-smile:

“Right, darling — fantastic! You’ve got your first pay packet. Now, how much shall we start with for your contribution to the household? You’re not a child anymore — time to pay your way in life.

And that’s where it began — our real education. Not in classrooms, but in the world of wages, bills, and expectations. School had prepared us to work, but not to live.

For so many young people something was missing. The reason you took ‘that’ job. I’ll return to that question further in, it maybe one decision that will keep you poor.

What follows is disturbing

We put our trust in those before us.

Yes, we did. “Son, that’s a great career choice”, Mum “Did you tell him it doesn’t pay well”, Dad “No one told me, he can find out for himself!”. One week passes.

The money we earned after our first week/month was not as we may have thought.

On the day that we received our first pay check something else happened. Deductions.

  • Income Tax
  • National insurance
  • Home
  • Transport
  • Now YOU buy your clothing
  • But that is just the beginning.

What! Mum, Dad! “I’ve only got £19.00 left!”.

Dad says ” Well, it’s the same for everyone son. You’ll just have to work harder”

The bit they missed? Qualifications son, qualifications. University.

University = Debt. So it begins.
